The Upper School Raiders ended the football season with a tough score resulting in 41-6, during their homecoming game Friday Oct. 24. Even though this was not their best game, the energy in the stands brightened the mood. The entire crowd was filled with students and proud family members hoping for a win but in all just enjoying the game and cheering on our team. As this was the last high school football game for many students, it left a memorable mark on middle schoolers.
Throughout the game, middle school football player Christian Diaz shared that he was interpreting the game in a different perspective than others. He was set on seeing how he can use the older players’ skills in his own games.
“I can take a lot of information on how I can improve my skills, especially me playing on line d’line to see how they move quickly off the ball,” Diaz said. He also mentioned being very excited to see his coach and some of his friends from the high school team playing, which have helped him over time as an inspiring football player.
Meanwhile, in the band section, Daniel Sanchez talked about how meaningful it was to be part of the spirit support for such a big event.
“I’m really excited to see the football players play and I really hope we win this year.” Sanchez said. “I think that playing in the band is fun because not only will we be able to see the game but we will also have to enjoy it with other band members and play too. “Its a good process because all of the music is kind of easy and Mr. Kaden, who’s the upper school band director, also came into our class and helped us with our music.”
Supporting from the stands, eighth grader Olivia Binello shared what she was most looking forward to for her transition to high school.
“I am looking forward to being with my friends and celebrating the new start of the school year, hanging out with people at the high school, and being able to support our school,” Binello said.
Even though the Raiders didn’t walk away from the field with a win, the school spirit of that game kept growing strong. The stands were all nervous but cheering loud. For many of us middle schoolers, this game gave a memorable taste of high school tradition, school pride and a sense of excitement for the next years to come as high schoolers.
