Every NFL draft comes with big expectations, and even bigger opinions. This year was no different. From unexpected and expected picks, the draft sparked a lot of opinions. Gulliver students shared their experience and thoughts on the draft. One of the frequently discussed topics in the media was which team would be the most successful. Famous Fernando Mendoza got selected as the number one pick in the NFL Draft.
“I think the most successful team will be the Buccaneers because they got Rueben Bain as the 15th pick,” said Asher Leinoff (8).
Students also had strong predictions on which player would be a “bust”. Some past busts in the 2025 NFL draft were Ty Simpson. He was selected 13th pick by the Los Angeles Rams and lacked experience and performance.
“I believe Jeremiyah Love is the biggest bust as he is not that good of a player and got drafted top 3,” said Harrison Lopez (8).
For some students, the draft was also about the personal experience and the connection. They spent quality time with their family and friends. Many see this as a day to connect and have fun while they watch their favorite players get drafted.
“I watched the draft with my dad and my brother, we had a good time and ate ice cream all together while bonding,” said Gavin Havenick (8). “I am happy about Rueben Bain Jr. because he was a Miami Hurricane, which is my favorite team and he is a very strong player.”
He also added that he watched the draft with his family, making his experience fun and memorable.Overall, this year’s NFL draft brought a mix of emotions and debate. From predictions about the most successful teams and debates over the potential busts. The Gulliver students portrayed how much the draft meant to fans. As the football season begins, it will be intriguing to see which of the students’ options turn out to be valid.
