Eighth graders Daniel Sanchez, Stella Roubach-Tomeo, and Sofia Queen pose to take a photo with their kid. As Santa, Sanchez delivers his gift to the kid.
Eighth grade students took a holiday field trip to Chapman elementary on Dec.13 to celebrate the holidays and give gifts to the kids. As students walked into the classes, they saw the kids waiting happily for Santa. Daniel Sanchez arrived as Santa dressed in a red suit with a sack of the gifts. The students ran up to Santa, and relished in the joyful spirit he brought to the classroom. All of the three to four year olds in Chapman created a list for Santa listing three gifts they would like to receive for Christmas. Each NJHS student received a card with the name of a kid from Chapman and a gift they wanted. After all students in NJHS bought their gifts they were assigned to, each kid was bought three gifts. The students wrapped and decorated the gifts nicely.
When the day came of the Field trip to Chapman, students dressed up in fun and festive outfits to bring the holiday spirit to the school.
“When I first got elected as Santa, I was the only one who volunteered for it and I think I was kinda nervous but when I got there I saw the smiles on the kids faces and I saw all of them coming to hug me. It made me happy knowing that not only was I seeing the kids happy I was doing a good deed for them,” said Daniel Sanchez (8).
All of the students in NJHS were assigned a kid to open the present with and to play with them. This day was filled with joy and happiness as all kids and students had a wonderful time at Chapman.
“It was really fun going to Chapman, and my favorite part was seeing the kid I got assigned with enjoying all the toys that she got and playing with them. She was also super excited about the first gift she got with the ice cream. She kept saying ice cream, ice cream because she was so happy,” said Amayelle Sock (8).
The holiday spirit flowed through the trip and all the students enjoyed meeting the kids as well as seeing them happy after receiving their gifts. The students helped them open the gifts and played with them.
“I loved being with the kids because I got to see them be happy, and I saw the difference between how they looked before and after they got their presents. I also got to know them which was really great,” said Emma Vesval (8).
