Global popstar Justin Bieber broke a record of attracting approximately 125,000 people showing up per weekend at Coachella in Palm Springs, California. He performed April 11 and April 18. Justin Bieber had not performed live in roughly 4 years, this is what influenced people from all over to fly in and see him perform. He played his original songs from 15 years ago as well as his newer songs. This attracted people of all ages who have been fans their entire life. Even though English teacher Danielle Lyon could not go to the concert herself; she experienced the live video of Justin Bieber at home and had the best time.
“I found a love for Justin Bieber through Ms. Lyon. We would always joke around about her love for him and then I actually listened to his music and really liked it,” said Valerie Marimon (6).
Lyon shares her passion for Justin with others and has influenced many students. Her fanhood of Justin Bieber started with her two daughters, Bella and Chloe. Her children were Bieber fans since day one; listening to him all the time, going to his concerts, and even having Justin Bieber themed birthday parties. Her children’s love for him began influencing Lyon and she shared this love in the classroom with her students.
“He is who he is and he’s just a little icon. He captures attention and has fans that have been his fans since they were little, and now they are moms. They are supporters of all different ages and we follow him because we are beliebers,” said Lyon.
Eighth grader Ava Scheiner has always had a love for Justin Bieber. All of his old songs bring her back to when she was a little girl. His songs play on repeat in her head constantly during the day. Ava didn’t go to Coachella in person, but the livestream impacted her just the same. Justin Bieber’s performance affected fans from all over, whether it was through the livestream or an in person experience.
“I even started crying because it was so good and there was this one specific part where the audience was singing so loud, and it was so emotional,” said Scheiner.
