On Monday, May 11 and Tuesday May 12, grades 5-8 attended their award ceremony which was a memorable event for each one of the students. The ceremonies were attended by many students, teachers and families that all gathered together to celebrate their achievements and their growth throughout this school year. During this ceremony students are called up one by one to receive awards while teachers and families cheered them on.
To start off, teachers introduced each award category and explained what students needed to achieve in order to earn the award. Awards were given for perseverance throughout the year and each of their improvements. As students walked across the stage to revive their awards each of their peers celebrated each of their accomplishments.
“I felt really proud of my accomplishments and it felt as though everything and all my hard work finally paid off. I was also able to see my teachers’ proud faces which made me feel even more proud,” said eighth grader Emma Vesval. Her words truly showed how much she cared about consistency during the school year.
The winners of all the awards were carefully chosen by teachers based on their effort, improvement, participation and overall achievements throughout this year. To add to the academic achievements, students were also noticed for displaying admirable behavior, leadership, and sportsmanship through the core value and athletic awards.
“I won the academic scholar award and the principles award. I got three awards. I got history math and I also got the principles award, which is when you get A’s for three quarters in a row,” said eighth grader Juliana Alonso. This truly showed all her consistent hard work and dedication. This recognition showed her hard work throughout the school year. The crowd applauded after each student went up to receive their award, making this moment memorable.
Many students were honored and excited to receive these special awards which reflected their hard work and commitment throughout the year.
Eighth grader Raven Edwards, who received Athlete of the Year and Performing Arts for theater, shared how meaningful this recognition is to her. “ I’m really happy and grateful that I got chosen for these awards,” Edwards said. “I definitely have changed as a student athlete.” Her comment shows how the award ceremony celebrated not only achievements but also personal growth and determination.
