On May 1-4, Formula 1 was welcomed back to Miami after a year. Swift cars passed through the arena, and the scorching sun reflected on the thousands of people attending. Refreshing beverages and food options like frozen lemonade and Bagatelle were available on site. Some students attended to watch their favorite race car drivers. Many find it shocking to see the speed of the cars and watch them race past their seats.
Eighth grader Paige LaTour got to experience the loud noises at F1 for the first time. She described the race as loud but fascinating to watch all the drivers race super close to her.
“I love to be able to go to F1, especially because other families may not be able to go. Even though it was super loud, I would love to go back and see the drivers,” LaTour said.
Eighth grader Zachary Krys said it was a social and glamorous event full of key worthy people, and it was a destination worthwhile. He also mentions it was a once in a time opportunity to meet the people he did and it was an intriguing experience. He was able to see and meet drivers of F1 before they showed off their skills on the track.
“I met a lot of notable people like Jimmy Fallon and DJ Khaled, and I was able to get Jimmy Fallon’s Contact, which was really cool. I also thought that the race was interesting and captivating,” said Krys.

Eighth grader Mikey Giannakopoulos, touches up on his side of F1 through a different angle.
He gives us the main points on why it is more efficient and entertaining when on TV.
“Formula 1 is better online because you can follow the cars rather than in person only seeing a bit as they go by your seat. Technology makes the experience better, you get to see everything with 360 cameras and expert commentary explaining what’s happening in real time. Also, I was able to be comfortable and not be overwhelmed by all the people and heat while watching the race.” Giannakopoulos said.
Kimi Antonelli won the 2026 Grand Prix for Mercedes. He held off McLaren’s Lando Norris who finished second, while Oscar Piastri took third. Lastly, George Russell finished fourth ahead of Max Verstappen.
