On Tuesday Oct. 21, two groups of eighth grade boys competed head to head in an intense soccer game during recess. The two groups of 8th grade boys split up into two teams called Greatness FC and Inter Miami. This soccer game during recess allowed everyone to play, whether they were competitive soccer players or were complete newbies.
“I can always count on my captain Federico. He is a great captain and leads the team,” Pietro Savoia (8) said.
This is not the first time this game has been played during recess, during last year the two groups connected and played crazy matches together. This soccer game is an opportunity for many students to be able to create more connections outside of their friend groups. The game started calmly, but once people became passionate it got heated.
“I felt they were a bit disrespectful because they fought a lot and they were breaking the rules a lot,” Daniel Penuela (8) said.
The Inter Miami team got past the difficulties of the heated game of Pietro, Felipe, and Joseph. The opposing team scored a goal by Wystan Allen. The game was very crazy and competitive.
“It felt amazing because it was a great feeling scoring a goal for my team and making us win,” said Savoia.“I was a bit disappointed with our performance because I felt like we could have done better but we still played harder.”
Daniel Penuela credited Cristian Diaz (8) for his great performance throughout the game.
“The person on the other team that played well was Cristian Diaz because he is a very good goal scorer and he looks like Marlon and he was just very good,” Penuela said.
The game ended with a win for Inter Miami 3-2 and a loss for Greatness FC. There is no doubt that there will be more upcoming games.
