Harper (Julia Butters), Lilly (Sophia Hammons), Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Anna (Lindsay Lohan) realize they have just gone through a four-way body swap in “Freakier Friday”.
“Freakier Friday,” produced by Nisha Ganatra, came out in the theaters on Aug. 8. It’s a sequel to the original movie “Freaky Friday.” The new movie takes place 22 years after the original. The movie is about the daughter and mother duo, Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) They experience a new generational swap with Anna’s daughter and future stepdaughter just before a wedding. This leads to a four-way chaos, which forces them to solve and fix their differences and deal with a new merged family. It became an instant hit just like the original.
Many beloved characters came back from the original, “Freaky Friday” but there are new characters who made their mark on this new movie. Harper (Julia Butters) Anna’s daughter, and Lily (Sophia Hammons) Manny’s daughter and Harper’s new step sister. The movie was really all that we expected and more. It is very family-friendly and lives up to all the hype.

The movie is a great sequel with many of the heartwarming family experiences coming back from the original. It brings back the nostalgic, funny moments and connections from the first movie. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis coming back to their iconic roles after almost two decades was a wonderful experience for everyone to watch. The two of them were very strong and convincing as teenagers stuck in adult bodies. As for the new actors Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons, the two of them captured the feelings and actions of mothers and adults.
“Freakier Friday” had an exciting plot that kept the watchers on their toes. The film focuses on a complicated relationship between the four women as they try to find their swapped identities, aiming to fix Harper and Lily’s relationship and solve family conflicts before the wedding. The humor throughout the movie brings tone, spirit, and a lot of humor. The plot also adds emotional moments that bring out the family dynamics that developed at the end of the movie.
When the body swap first occurs, Lily is in a 66 year olds body and complains that her “face feels so thirsty and dry” meanwhile, Anna, trapped in her teenage daughters body, says that her face looks like, “A birkin bag that’s been left out in the sun to rot.”
Overall, this movie was a hit and we recommend it to anyone that is looking for a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the movie. A lot of remakes do not match up to the original, but “Freakier Friday” is just as great as the original.
